SeyT Lines is a reference for people who run something small. It is published in two languages, and the two halves do different jobs.
What is here
The English side — around 129 guides — is about operating a business: pricing and cash flow, marketing and local search, hiring and culture, customers, and getting through a bad quarter.
The Portuguese side is smaller and almost entirely legal: contracts with suppliers, distributors and franchisees, company registration, limited liability, trademarks and patents, compliance. Nineteen of the twenty Portuguese guides are on a legal subject; on the English side it is twelve out of a hundred and twenty-nine. The paperwork half of the job lives in Portuguese here.
What this site is not
It is not a law firm and it does not provide legal services. Earlier versions of this page said otherwise. That was wrong, and on this subject matter it was the worst thing a page could get wrong, so it has been removed.
There are no lawyers here, no consultations, no client relationships and no advice given to anybody. What is here is general written information about how businesses are commonly run and commonly documented.
Company law, employment law and tax differ by country and change often. The Portuguese guides describe commercial practice in broad terms and cannot account for your jurisdiction, your contract or your circumstances. Before you sign, register or file anything, take advice from a qualified professional where you are.
How the guides are written
They are written as general reference and are not updated on a schedule. Each carries the date it was published, and the older material — there is a tail from 2022 on affiliate schemes, surveys and cashback services — should be read with that date firmly in mind.
